Alright, so here we are, just hours away from 2009 and my personal challenges await. So many to choose from, so much planning to do.
I've decided to give up drinking for the month of January, and let me explain why:
1) I will want to be drinking in March- St. Pat's in the city- and I wouldn't want to refuse any free Guinness that comes my way.
2) June's out of the question
3) As is summer
4) As are November and December with the annual influx of Sons of Poughkeepsie and the merriment that ensues.
So that leaves a select few months to take on this challenge. So why January, then? Well, it will certainly kick-start the challenge process. I do enjoy my pint or two on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and whatever I get my hands on Fridays and Saturdays. I guess I just figure that if I'm going to make these legitimate challenges, then I should start with one that I know I can do, but will have a long time to make it happen.
In the meantime, I am enjoying my last pint of the year, getting it in before the ball drops. I hope that in February, I will celebrate by having a victory pint in honor of the Miami Dolphins who will hopefully be Super Bowl-bound by then!
So now what? Well, I guess I should start by saying that I will be updating this as much as possible. The first post of the month will be a little introduction as to why I have given up a particular thing for that particular month. If you have suggestions for things to give up, please let me know; I'm always accepting of new ideas.
Other things to consider have been:
TV
cell phone
internet (can't do, on the basis of having this blog to document the year)
masturbating
bread
meat
swearing
Quite a list, but as you can see, room for more. If you have suggestions, let me know. In the meantime, welcome aboard!
